Open Source Camp 2009

NSTU OSN has finished a two days(4th -5th April) OS camp in NSTU campus. The new students of NSTU participated in the camp. The first day was covered Open Source philosophy,Wikipedia,Linux talks,Linux installation,GCC compiler installation, and some relevant topic on Linux. The second day of the camp was started by a special presentation on ACM programming contest,Mr.Rashed Mustafa,Lecturer Deptt. Of CSTE took the ssession.The second session was on Joomla,the student practiced this open source web designing tool in the lab.In the transition of the sessions short quiz on Open Souce was taken.The winners of the quiz got open source softwares dvd as gift. The canp was ended by the speech from Dr.Humayun Kabir,Chairman of CSTE,Md.Javed Hossain and Mr.Rahsed Mustafa.They appreciated the volunteers of NSTU OSN for their positive steps in the OS movement. Anchor of NSTU OSN Mr.Rashed Mustafa supervised the program.

7 wonders voting camp in NSTU

NSTU Open Source Network and BdStudentCafe (www.bdetc.com) jointly arranged a voting camp for Coxsbazar and Sundarban.The campaign started from morning 9am and ended at 5pm.More than 700 votes were cast for Sundarbans and Coxsbazar .Chairman of the Computer Science & Telecommunication Engineeing Department Dr.Humayun Kabir and Lecturer Mr.Rashed Mustafa,Proctor Mr.Ali Rezwan Talukder inaugurated the voting camp.During the voting session teachers and the students of NSTU voted for 7 wonders.Today was the NSTU admission test 2009. Around thousands people gathered in campus. The volunteers of NSTU OSN and Bdstudentscafe.com worked all the day. Technical support was provided by Department of Computer Science & Telecommunication Engineering.

Mid-level joomla workshop

NSTU OSN arranged a day long workshop.The workshop was conducted on Joomla a content management system.The workshop coordinator was Mr.Javed Morshed Chowdhury,Mr Arafater Rahnman,Mr.Ferdeous Ahmed Tanin.The first half of the workshop was started with a demonstration session on Joomla and the second half was on lab practice. After the workshop Chairman of CSTE Department had given away the certificates among the participants. Around 53 participants participated in the workshop.

NSTU OSN arranged ubuntu 8.04 release party

The computer lab was previously based on operating system windows XP which was converted into Ubuntu for better networking. On that day new version of Ubuntu 8.04 was unpacked by the chairman Md. Humayun Kabir of CSTE department . Other teachers and students were present on the spot and a party was held for Ubuntu release occasion.

New Ubuntu Lab inagurated

New Ubuntu lab was inagurated by Dr.Humyun Kabir ,during the inaguration of the lab he said"To promote Open source Software his favour will be always positive".It should me mentioned that the CSTE progrmming lab was migrated to dual lab(ubunti+Windows).This migration will play a vital role for the spreding open source softwares in NSTU.In the inaguration ceremony Mr.Javed Hossain,Asst. Professo,Dept. of CSTE,Mr.Tarek Hasan Al Mahmud,Lecture,Dept. of CSTE also attenended in the ceremony.Mr.Rashed Mostafa anchor of NSTU_OSN co-ordinated the whole program.
