The university will
have its academic year stretched from January to December. A
semester system will remain operative to divide the year into
two terms of twenty two weeks each with an eight-week recess
running between Term 2 and Term 1 as shown in the scheme
below. Term 1 will start on 2nd January with
cohorts of students freshly admitted into all the departments.
Term 2 will begin on 5th June and conclude in
October. Classroom lecturing in a term will continue in two
spells of seven weeks each with a term break for one week in
the middle. The next seven weeks will remain engaged in
succession on student reading, term final exam, grading and
announcement of results.
The eight-week
recess, November-December, will be used in holidaying. A part
of the teacher-student community will use it to repeat a
failed course or to do a missed course in an intensive
programme. Others will use it to do a course in excess of the
minimum credit hours. These will be done on demand and supply
basis. Admission for Term 1 will also be finalized during this
vacation which closely follows the publication of the HSC
results in October. |
