BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Md. Murad Hossain Associate Professor Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), Bangladesh Dr. Md. Murad Hossain is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), where he has been serving since April 2017. With a strong academic and research background, Dr. Hossain is dedicated to advancing the fields of microbial biotechnology, antibiotic research, and microbial genomics. He obtained his Ph.D. in the field of Bioscience and Biotechnology from Kyushu University, Japan—one of Asia’s leading research institutions. Following his doctoral studies, he undertook postdoctoral research at several renowned institutions, namely National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (Japan), Niigata University (Japan), Universiti Sains Malaysia (Malaysia) and University Malaya (Malaysia), where he deepened his expertise in microbial biotechnology, molecular biology, antibiotic resistance, microbiome research, regenerative medicine and biomedical sciences. Dr. Hossain’s research primarily focuses on contemporary and emerging issues in microbiology and biotechnology. His key areas of interest include: • Antibiotics and antibiotic resistance mechanisms • Antibiotic resistance breakers and bacteriocins • Gut microbiota and its association with human health and disease • Phytomedicine and plant-based antimicrobial agents • Genetic engineering and manipulation of microbial systems • Metagenomics and microbial community profiling His work aims to address the global threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by identifying novel therapeutic agents and resistance-breaking strategies. He is also actively engaged in exploring the therapeutic potential of gut microbiota and plant-derived compounds in combating infectious and metabolic diseases. Dr. Hossain has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and regularly collaborates with both national and international researchers. In addition to his research activities, he is deeply committed to teaching, mentoring young scientists, and contributing to curriculum development in biotechnology and genetic engineering. Through his academic and research endeavors, Dr. Hossain continues to contribute to the development of sustainable solutions to global health challenges and to the advancement of microbiological science in Bangladesh and beyond.
