Development of bimetallic electrocatalyst for the detection of inorganic pollutants and their application in real sample analysis
Abstract: This research focuses on the development of novel bimetallic electrocatalysts for the rapid, sensitive, and selective detection of environmentally significant inorganic pollutants, including arsenic, nitrate, chromium, and hydroxylamine. The project employs electrochemical fabrication techniques to prepare nanostructured bimetallic catalyst-modified electrodes and investigates their surface characteristics using advanced analytical tools such as SEM, XPS, EIS, and ICP-OES. The developed electrocatalysts are evaluated through voltammetric and amperometric techniques to optimize their sensing performance, selectivity, and detection limits. Real environmental water samples collected from pollution-prone regions of Bangladesh are analyzed to assess practical applicability. The project aims to provide a cost-effective and portable sensing platform for environmental monitoring, public health protection, and water quality assessment. Beyond environmental applications, the developed catalyst materials have potential uses in energy conversion technologies, including fuel cells and hydrogen evolution systems. The outcomes of this research are expected to contribute to advancements in electrochemical sensing, catalysis, and sustainable environmental technologies.
