Dr. Amena Khatun is an Associate Professor of Plant Biotechnology and Pathology at Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. She earned her PhD in Plant Pathology from the University of Adelaide, Australia, where her research focused on cell wall biosynthesis and antimicrobial peptide interactions in Phytophthora cinnamomi. Dr. Khatun’s research expertise spans plant–microbe interactions, molecular diagnostics, and protein biochemistry, including RNA-Seq analysis, assay development, and pathogen detection. She has extensive experience in culturing Phytophthora, fungi, and bacteria, and employs advanced molecular and imaging techniques such as confocal microscopy, HPLC, and GC–MS. Her current research focuses on plant growth-promoting bacteria, biocontrol agents, PGPR consortia, Halotolerant PGPR, and the development of eco-friendly strategies for sustainable disease management in crops under stress conditions. She loves nature, hills, travelling, birding and rain.
Dr. Amena Khatun is an Associate Professor of Molecular Plant Pathology at Noakhali Science and Technology University, Bangladesh. She completed her PhD in Plant Pathology at the University of Adelaide, Australia, where she investigated cell wall biosynthesis and antimicrobial peptide interactions in Phytophthora cinnamomi. Her research expertise includes plant–microbe interactions, molecular diagnostics, RNA-Seq and gene expression analysis, protein purification, and assay development. She also works on zinc- and phosphate-solubilizing bacteria and biocontrol agents for managing crop diseases under salinity stress. Dr. Khatun aims to develop sustainable, molecular-based solutions for plant disease management and crop resilience.
